Cheryl Capps joined Corning as vice president, Procurement and Transportation in June 2011. Over the past seven years, she has worked to develop the capabilities within the function (Global Supply Management) and across the corporation, to transform supply chain into a competitive advantage for Corning; enabling innovation, growth, and financial success.
Capps has 35 years of diverse leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, research and development, quality, strategy, and business management. Immediately prior to joining Corning, Capps was senior vice president, Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain, for ConvaTec, the medical device division of Bristol Myers Squibb(BMS). In this role, she had responsibility for global manufacturing, supply chain (sourcing, planning, logistics, distribution, customer service operations), and engineering (packaging, facilities, and plant). Capps also played a key role in the spinoff of ConvaTec to a stand-alone entity, where she was a limited partner and member of the executive committee, and in the subsequent acquisition and integration of the Unomedical business.
Capps joined Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1997 at Zimmer, Inc. as vice president of Sourcing and Packaging Engineering before moving to the pharmaceutical division where she held numerous roles in sourcing and supply chain, including vice president, Supply Chain Planning and Optimization, where she led a business-wide transformation of the supply chain function by introducing best-in-class processes and capabilities. Prior to BMS, she held a series of senior level positions with GE Motors and Industrial Systems in business general management, manufacturing, quality and strategy. This followed a broad set of assignments across GE (Aerospace/Astrospace, Medical Systems, and Aircraft Engine) in the first decade of her career. She graduated from GE’s Manufacturing Management Program in 1985.
Capps holds a M.S. in engineering from Purdue University, as well as a B.S. in electrical engineering and a B.A. in psychology from Rice University
